New Here?

We’re so glad you’re exploring Stehman Church. Here’s some information to help you get acquainted with us:

  • Although we’re in farm country in Manor Township, we’re just 2.5 miles from Millersville.
  • We value each person we meet as a unique individual created in the image of God. Come as you are! Jesus loves you, and so do we.
  • Children are an important part of this church. We have lots of kids and love each one of them!

Parking: The main parking lot can be reached from the driveway off Stehman Church Road. Handicapped spaces are marked, with more in front of the church, off Indian Run Road.

When to get here: Arriving about 15 minutes before the 10:10 a.m. worship service will give you time to check small children into the nursery and be seated.

What to wear: We’re an informal congregation. Anything from jeans to suits and dresses will be fine -- whatever makes you comfortable!

Seating: There are no reserved pews. An usher can help you to find a seat if you’d like.

May we get to know you? Please fill out a connection card (available from greeters along with your bulletins as you enter the sanctuary). There’s a space on the back of the card for any prayer requests you may have. Just drop the card into the plate when ushers take the offering.

What to expect in worship: We worship in “blended” style, meaning some songs are videos on our sanctuary projection screen and others are hymns (with lyrics on screen or in the pew hymnals). We project the whole service, so words to elements like the Lord’s Prayer will be on the screen too. Some people like to lift their hands in worship (that would be the pastor!); others don’t. It depends on your comfort level. The message usually runs 25-30 minutes.

If it’s a Communion Sunday: In the United Methodist Church, you do not have to be a member of Stehman Church or of the UMC to take Communion. Children may take Communion at the discretion of their parent(s) or guardian.

What about kids? We offer Junior Church for ages 3-5 every Sunday. Junior Church for older children is twice a month; that is listed in the bulletin. Nursery care is available every Sunday. Children are dismissed to Junior Church following the children’s message in the service.

Sunday school classes: Our classes are organized by age: nursery; ages 2 to kindergarten; grades 1-3; grades 4-5; and youth (grades 6-12). Adult classes are available for ages 18-40; 40-65; and 65-up. However, feel free to choose an adult class that works best for you.

Refreshments: We have coffee at the rear of the lobby before and after church. If you’re bringing drinks into the sanctuary, please use a lid to help prevent spills. We also have snacks after the service. Please check out the snack table!

Need more information? Stop at the Info Center (left side of the lobby as you leave the sanctuary) to ask questions or learn more about our service opportunities!
